Eligibility Requirements 2026

The Following eligibility criteria and Requirements might be needed for the Recruitment for Nigerian Airforce:

1.General requirements for Airmen/Airwomen: 

1. Nationality: All Applicants Must be Nigerians by Birth
2. SSCE: WASSCE Certificate With at least seven (7) Credits including English language and mathematics. Trades may require additional Trade Test Certificates, ND, or NCE.
3. Age: Must be within 18–22 years for non-tradesmen/women, and 18–25 years for tradesmen/women
4. Height: Candidates height should not be below average
5. Other requirements: Other Requirements will be updated once the form is out.

2. General Requirements for DSSC

• Age limit: 20–32 years.
• Educational Qualifications: Minimum of Second Class Upper Division degree or Upper Credit for HND.

• BMTC 46/2025 Exercises: December 13, 2025.
• The list of successful candidates for the selection board interview was released in April 2026. 
• 2026/2027 Cycle: The BMTC registration dates for the 2026 intake will open on July 24, 2026 and close on August 21, 2026.
• The selection board interviews will run from September 24 to November 12, 2026.

About The Nigerian Airforce Recruitment 

Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC)

The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) is a type of commission in the NAF which is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. The Course provides the avenue for the enlistment of degree holders who are professionals in specified fields.

Training period for this type of commission is usually 6 months of intensive military training and successful candidates are commissioned into the rank of Flying Officer.

Airmen/Airwomen Basic Military Training Course

The Basic Military Training Course is a Short Period Training for recruits to become Airmen and Airwomen, not normally more than 6 months of training.

It is mainly for those who possess Secondary School Certificate, National Diploma certificate, NABTEB, RN/RM/NCE or City & Guild Certificate and Trade Test Certificate.

The BMTC is comprised of Non-Tradesmen/Women with age limit between 18 and 22 and Tradesmen/Women with age limit between 18 and 25.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is ranked under Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers. The ranks range from the highest operational leadership down to entry-level airmen.
