The NPC eRecruitment portal is currently operational for the trial census. However, it’s important to know that applications are only accepted from residents of specific areas.

These specific areas include six Local Government Areas (LGAs) in six different states, each representing one of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones:

  1. Brass LGA in Bayelsa State (South South zone)
  2. Idemili South LGA in Anambra State (Southeast zone)
  3. Imeko-Afon LGA in Ogun State (Southwest zone)
  4. Tongo LGA in Adamawa State (Northeast zone)
  5. Karu LGA in Nasarawa State (Northcentral zone)
  6. Daura LGA in Katsina State (Northwest zone)

Requirements for NPC Job Vacancies 2024

The following criteria has to be met in order to be considered for the National Population Commission job positions:

  • Applicants must be from Nigeria by birth
  • Should be between 20 to 35 of age
  • must have a National Identification Number (NIN)
  • A Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) with Credit Passes in at least three (3) subjects, including English and Mathematics
  •  Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.), Higher National Diploma (HND), National Certificate in Education (NCE), or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) obtained in any related discipline are eligible to apply.
  • NYSC Certificate or an Exemption necessary.

Functions of the NPC

  1. Undertake the enumeration of the population of Nigeria periodically, through censuses, sample surveys or otherwise;
  2. Establish and maintain machinery for continuous and universal registration of births and deaths, throughout the Federation;
  3. Advise the President on population matters;
  4. Publish and provide information and data on population for the purpose of facilitating economic and development planning; and
  5. Appoint and train or arrange for the appointment and training of enumerators or the staff of the Commission.
  6. Prepare and maintain a national framework, including locality list and house numbering, for the delineation exercise for census and sample surveys in each local government area in Nigeria;
  7. Collect, collate and publish data on migration statistics;
  8. Research and monitor the national population policy and set up a national population information data bank;
  9. Disseminate information and educate the general public about the functions of the Commission under the Act;
