Official Resumption Date
The management of the University of Uyo has announced that the next resumption of academic sessions for all students shall commence on October 5, 2026. This comes after the second semester examination, which officially ended on Monday, August 21, 2026. The long vacation period runs from August 24, 2026, to October 2, 2026, before the resumption of lectures on October 5, 2026
The resumption date shall apply to all faculties, including the new undergraduates (freshers).
UNIUYO Resumption Guidelines & Registration Instructions
Below are the official guidelines for student’s clearance, registration, and commencement of lectures. Use them to know when to report to the school and avoid fines.
- Official registration portal opening date: October 5, 2026
- Normal registration commencement date: October 5, 2026
- Normal registration closing date: October 23, 2026 (no penalty)
- Late registration closing date: November 6, 2026 (with penalty)
- First day of first semester lecture: October 12, 2026
Requirements and Clearance Procedures Upon Resumption
All new students (freshers) and returning undergraduates must clear their registration before starting to study their courses at the University of Uyo (UNIUYO). Ensure you clear your registration within the due time else your admission might be revoked

Clearance Procedures for freshers
All new students must present the original and three printed copies of the following documents at the faculty screening secretariat:
- Admission Documents: Admission letter (institution copy) and UNIUYO admission notification slip.
- Academic Qualification : O’level result (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) scratch cards for result verification, and JAMB result slip.
- Institutional Payments receipt: Paid Acceptance and school fees generated from the UNIUYO portal.
- Statutory Declarations : Letter of Attestation from a sponsor, age declaration or birth certificate, and certificate of origin from the Local Government Area.
- Medical Fitness: Medical Fitness Certificate from UNIUYO Health Centre
- Picture: At least 8 passport pictures with a plain white background.
STEPS TO TAKE AFTER PRESENTING YOUR DOCUMENTS TO THE FACULTY CLEARANCE SECRETARIAT :
- Bio-data: Fill and upload your bio-data form and scanned copies of your documents into the UNIUYO student portal
- Faculty Screening: Present your hard copy documents to the Faculty Officer for screening, signing of certificates, and filing
- Departmental Clearance: Bring along your cleared faculty file to your department Head for clearance, HOD will also approve your course.
- Matric Number: Your university matric no will be generated online once your course has been approved by your department.

Clearance Procedures for returning students
Students must update their profiles on the university portal before the start of the semester
- Fee Payment: Pay your school fees or first-installment structured fees into the university portal
- Course Registration: Register for your CORE and ELECTIVE courses online based on your programme and level.
- Form Printing: Print out four (4) copies of your course registration form (form 01) and submit to your level coordinator and HOD for their signatures.

To ensure smooth resumption and avoid being at cross purposes with the rules and regulations, all undergraduates are required to comply with the following:

1. Timely Registration: All fresh students are advised to register on time to avoid huge deductions. Ensure you clear faculty and departmental screenings within the first 3-week normal registration period.
2. Acquire your health insurance: All students should visit the UNIUYO Health Centre (Town Campus) to purchase your student’s fitness certificate.
3. Avoid sharing of portal passwords: Do not share your portal passwords with any cafe owners. Keep your matriculation log-in information safe.
4. Orientation week: All students must attend the orientation week which highlights the various examination regulations, grading system, and general safety guidelines in the campus.
5. Verify your hostel details: All students who paid for hostel accommodations are advised to present their payment receipts at the Student Affairs Division to confirm their hostel details before resuming.
Key Guidelines for Returning Students
1. Check prerequisite course codes: Students must clear prerequisite course codes before registering for advanced courses on their portal.
2. Settle school fees before registration: The portal of students with outstanding fees from previous sessions will be blocked.
3. Get signatures on form 01: Print your form 01 and get it signed by your level coordinator and the Head of Department (HOD) within the first month of resumption.
4. Adhere to University dress code: All students must adhere to the University’s dress code regulations in their respective departments. Students will be denied access to lecture halls if they do not comply with the regulations.

Yes. UNIUYO Senate has scheduled the resumption of both freshers and returning students on 5th October 2026.
2. Can I pay my school fees in installments?
The university fee portal allows students to clear their fees in installments (50 percent for each semester) however freshers should endeavor to clear their full school fees since the university management is yet to approve any exception for those that are yet to commence their studies.
3. What happens if I miss the normal registration date?
Those that miss the normal course registration date will be forced to register during the late registration period which means an additional charge to their school fees and failure to register on time will lead to a temporary suspension of studentship.
4.Is the UNIUYO portal open for course registration now?
The registration portal activates officially on the day of resumption, October 5, 2026. You cannot register courses before this date.
5.Where do freshers undergo physical screening?
Screening takes place physically at the respective Faculty Officer desks across the Main Campus (Nwaniba) and Town Campus (Ikpa Road), depending on where your department is situated.
6.Can I complete my medical clearance at an outside hospital?
No. UNIUYO management only accepts medical fitness certificates issued directly by the UNIUYO Health Centre on the Town Campus.
